# Privacy policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
WeeklyMealPlans.com ("WeeklyMealPlans," "we," "us") is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain English.
The short version
- You can get a meal plan without giving us your name or email.
- We use a small first-party cookie to count visits and see which features get used, and another to run A/B tests.
- We use Google Analytics. In the EEA and UK, analytics cookies are off until you agree.
- Photos you upload are sent to our AI provider to be read, and we don't store them.
- Stripe handles payments. We never see your full card number.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- Email privacy@weeklymealplans.com and we'll delete your data.
What we collect and why
What you type into the planner
Your household size, number of dinners, budget, time limit, diet preferences, avoid list, pantry items, cooking effort and any notes. We use them to generate your plan. We store each plan along with the inputs that produced it, so your share link keeps working and you can come back to it. Anyone you give a share link to can see that plan.
Please don't put sensitive personal information in the free-text boxes. "No shellfish" is helpful; a medical history isn't needed.
Anonymous usage analytics
We set a first-party cookie called `wmp_sid` containing a random session ID. It lasts up to 365 days. With it we record events like "started a plan," "swapped a dinner" or "clicked Shop this week's groceries," together with the page, how you arrived (for example, the referring site or campaign tag), your general device type based on your browser, and your approximate country as reported by our hosting provider. We use this to understand what's working and fix what isn't. It isn't linked to your name or email unless you sign in.
A/B testing
We set a cookie called `wmp_x` that remembers which version of a page or feature you were shown, so the site stays consistent for you while we compare versions. It lasts up to 180 days and contains no personal information.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and how the site is used. It sets its own cookies (such as `_ga`) and Google processes the data under its own terms. We use Google's consent mode. If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, analytics storage is denied by default and Google Analytics cookies are only set if you agree. Elsewhere it's on by default. You can block it with your browser's cookie settings or with Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Photos you upload
When you use "snap your fridge" or Recipe Rescue, your photos are sent to our AI provider so it can list the food it sees or transcribe the recipe. We route these requests through an AI service provider (currently OpenRouter) to the company that runs the model. We don't store the photos. What we keep is the result you confirm, such as the list of pantry items or the recipe text, and only when you save it to a plan or an account.
Try not to include people, documents or anything else personal in these photos.
Your email address (optional)
You give us an email address only if you choose to: to have a plan emailed to you, to sign in with a magic link, or to use Autopilot. We use it to send what you asked for and the messages that go with an account, such as sign-in links, Autopilot plans and billing notices. If we ever send newsletters or promotional email, you'll be able to unsubscribe at any time.
Accounts
If you sign in, we set a cookie called `wmp_s` that keeps you signed in for up to 90 days. Your account holds your email address, household settings, saved and imported recipes, past plans, your thumbs-up and thumbs-down ratings, and your Autopilot settings. We use this to personalize your plans and, with Autopilot, to avoid repeating recent dinners.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's systems, and we never see or store your full card number. Stripe tells us things like your email address, your subscription status, and the card brand and last four digits, so we can manage your plan and answer billing questions. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the information you give Stripe.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, our servers and hosting provider receive your IP address and basic browser information when you visit. We use your IP address briefly to limit abuse, such as too many requests at once. We don't store it with your analytics events.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. The planner still works without them, though you'll be signed out and the site may treat you as a new visitor.
Affiliate links and partners
Some links go to partners like meal-kit companies, grocery services and retailers (see our disclosure). Those links pass through a WeeklyMealPlans address that starts with /go/ so we can count the click. After you leave our site, the partner may set its own cookies to credit us for the referral, and its own privacy policy applies.
If you use "Shop this week's groceries," we send your plan's title, its grocery items and a link back to the plan to our grocery partner to build your cart. We don't send your name or email.
Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, and only what they need:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site, stores our data and sends our email
- Our AI providers, which generate plans and read uploaded photos
- Stripe, for payments
- Google, for analytics
- Sentry, for error monitoring. When something breaks, we send technical details such as the page address, the error and the type of request so we can fix it.
- Grocery partners, as described above, when you choose to shop your list
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
How long we keep it
We keep plans so share links keep working, until you ask us to delete them. Account information stays for as long as you have an account. Usage analytics events are kept for [RETENTION PERIOD]. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data. Email privacy@weeklymealplans.com from the address on your account, or include your plan's share link, and we'll delete it.
- See or correct your data. Ask at the same address.
- Cancel Autopilot at any time from your account page or the Stripe billing portal.
- Turn off cookies in your browser settings.
Depending on the state you live in, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know what we collect or to opt out of certain uses. We honor access and deletion requests from all users, wherever they live. We'll respond within the time the law requires and won't treat you differently for making a request.
Children's privacy
WeeklyMealPlans is meant for adults planning household meals. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Telling us how many kids are in your household is just a number for portion sizes. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email privacy@weeklymealplans.com and we'll delete it.
Where your information is processed
WeeklyMealPlans is run from the United States and intended for people in the US. Our service providers may process information in the US and other countries. If you use the site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.
Security
We use HTTPS throughout, limit who can access stored data, and keep payment details with Stripe rather than on our own systems. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be exposed. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll also post a notice on the site or email account holders before it takes effect.
